Confess and Forsake Your Sins (Plead and Turn)
Notes By: Sister Makeba Shaw
Once you confess, you have to turn away from your sin.
You can’t confess and do the same things over and over expecting the same results because that is the definition of insanity on steroids!
I. Confess (Plead)
A. Proverbs 28:13 (If you try to hide your sins, you will not prosper. If you confess, you will receive mercy)
B. 1 John 1:9 (If you confess, God is faithful and will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Confession is difficult because it means acknowledging our wrongdoing)
C. 1 John 2: 1-2 (If anyone sins, we have an advocate who pleads our case before God, He is a sacrifice that atones for the sins of the world. God sent Jesus to atone for our sins so don’t beat yourself up after asking for forgiveness and turning away)
II. Forsake (Turn)
A. Turn away from your sin: we must stay focused as things start to evolve and our will and desires begin to align with God’s will.

Invite Jesus into every aspect of your life (work, home, working out, on a date, dinner, school etc).
Make a conscious effort and be intentional in connecting with your partner once this week for a check in. Connect a second time during the week to discuss your homework. Remember to study prior to connecting with your partner so that your time together is meaningful and the conversation is fruitful. Be prepared to provide a summary and share during next week’s class!
Revelations 3:20- Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.

Romans 10:13- For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Memory verse:
Romans 5:1 (NLT)- Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
(KJV)- Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
