Tonight’s lesson: Physical Health & Healing
James 5:14-16
Matt 8:17
  • We are strengthening our spiritual man
  • Strengthening our emotional man
  • Now we are focusing on strengthening our physical man
  • This is a holistic process
  • Pray for physical health and healing
  • Objective is to learn to include this prayer point: I thank you in advance & bless your name for physical healing and wellness
  • If you desire to be better, the Bible says you can have it because He took it on himself!
  • We are without excuse! It’s in the book
  • The healing ministry of Jesus is documented in the Bible.
  • His miracles of healing was a testament to the healing he offers us
  • Compassion (Matthew 14:14): Compassion is at the foundation of Jesus’ healing. His heart was moved with mercy and is a reflection that God cares for the whole person (body, mind, spirit, soul
  • Healing as a sign of God’s kingdom (Luke 9:11):  Healing was a visible sign and clear demonstration of God’s power. Suffering, illness and death has no place in God’s kingdom. Healing is our portion!
  • Healing through faith (Matthew 9:22): He can heal us according to our faith. Faith was a key component. THose who came to him had faith that Jesus could heal them and those that ask on behalf of others. His glory can be shown in the world through healing. What God does for one, he can do for you!
  • Authority over sickness and evil (Matthew 8:16-17): Jesus displayed authority over physical ailments and spiritual forces of evil. He not only healed diseases but he also cast out demons. He demonstrated his authority over darkness. Jesus spoke the Word!
  • Healing as  glimpse of ultimate restoration (Revelation 21:4): Each healing performed by Jesus was a glimpse of God’s kingdom. When we get to heaven, there will be no more sickness, pain or death and we will be made whole. The same way Jesus did it when he was on earth, the Word says we can do even greater than what he did.
  • He’s capable of healing us, but he also desires to heal us physically, emotionally and spiritually.
  • He has the power and the authority. The authority he has, he has given to us to speak a thing and it “be”.
  • Because Jesus paved the way, we pray and speak it into existence.
Next week’s assignment:

  • Pray for someone who is sick & invite them to church on Friday at 7pm
  • Schedule a time to physically pray for them
Follow the example given from James 5:14-16- Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
