John 10:3-5
KJV
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
NLT
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.
5 They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”
Psalm 46:10
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
1 Kings 19: 1 – 15 KJV
1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LordGod of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LordGod of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus:
Breaker breaker 1-9! Have any of you ever heard someone say breaker breaker 1-9! This was a way for truckers to communicate with one another while traveling over the highway.
I remember as a child we would hear the truck drivers using the CB known as a citizen band. And they would be saying breaker breaker 1-9 which would automatically let you know that they were looking for channel 19.
You see, when a trucker says this, he or she is asking permission to break into the conversation other truckers are having on their Citizen Band (CB) radios, on Channel 19.
Once the truck driver would say breaker breaker 1-9, they would pause and wait.
Saying “breaker” is a way of gaining listeners attention if the channel is quiet or interrupting a conversation – breaking into it – to impart time sensitive information.
“Breaker breaker 1-9, anyone got a copy?” is a courtesy call to access the channel.
We enjoyed hearing the truck drivers use this term so much that when we were traveling when we were younger, we would always get CB’s in our cars so that we could talk from car to car.
And we will find ourselves saying breaker breaker 1-9 so that we could communicate with each other, and have our family members come in and talk to us while we were traveling?
But it was something that was significant about using the CB. We found that in order for us to effectively communicate with each other while using the CB, the person talking had to press down the receiver and hold it down while we talked. While we held the receiver down the person on the other end could hear our message.
But, as long as we held the receiver down we couldn’t hear them.
The only way that we could hear what the other person was saying, we had to release the receiver and paused while they talked.
There were times that we found ourselves trying to talk at the same time the other person was talking, but we quickly found out that both sides could not talk at the same time.
Somebody had to release the receiver to give the other person access to talk.
How many of you know that there are some of us here tonight that we can’t hear God’s Voice in the spirit realm, because we’re still holding the receiver down!
Last week we talked about do you know his voice and tonight I want us to be able to effectively communicate with him so that there is not a delay or an interruption in the line of communication to us from voice of God!
Breaker breaker 1-9
We see in the scripture tonight in the book of 1 Kings chapter 19, where Ahab went home, and told his wife Jezebel everything Elijah had done, to include the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal.
This is an example of twisted communication, because only one side of the story was told!!!
Ahab pressed the receiver to tell his story but didn’t release the receiver to allow Elijah an opportunity to share his side of the story.
This led to Jezebel sending a message to Elijah: that said “May the gods strike me and kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”
Now I want you to imagine how this must have made Elijah feel, because now he didn’t get a chance to use the CB from his side.
Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. The Bible says that he went to Beersheba, which is a town in Judah, but for some reason, he left his servant there.
I think I would have wanted some company with me if I was scared for my life!!! But he left him there in Beersheba, and went alone into the wilderness.
The Bible says that he traveled all day, and sat down under a solitary broom tree or a Juniper tree, and prayed that he might die.
He pressed his receiver and began to have a conversation with the Lord.
But remember in order to effectively communicate with the Lord, there was something that he had to do.
Once his receiver was pressed he started talking with the Lord. He said “I have had enough, Lord,” “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”
When Elijah finished talking, he released the receiver and the Bible says that he laid down and slept under the broom tree.
But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, “Get up and eat!”
My God. Watch this!!! If he hadn’t taken his hand off of the receiver (the situation, his circumstances, his problems) he would have missed the message from God!!!
Breaker breaker 1-9
The scripture says that he looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again.
Notice he didn’t say anything! Not one word!!! He let the CB stay right on the ground beside him and he went right back to sleep.
Then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, because if not, the journey ahead of you will be too much for you.”
Here we go again, he didn’t look for his CB nor did he try to talk on it. He got up and ate and drank, and the Bible says that the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai,[a] the mountain of God.
Let’s fast forward!!!
Breaker breaker 1-9
Elijah came to a cave, where he spent the night.
There seems to be some symbolism to getting rest and effective communication. When he rested he heard from the Lord!!!
While he was there, the Lord said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Now you do know that the Lord already knew that answer right? But He was granting Elijah the opportunity to grab his CB and press the receiver and speak.
Elijah replied to God and said, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty, But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets.
I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”
Now once he stated how he was feeling whether it was reality or not, guess what Elijah did?
You’re right, he took his hand off of the receiver to allow God to speak to him.
The Bible says that the Lord told him to change his position!!!
In order for you to hear what God is saying tonight, I need you to change your position!!!
He’s ready to press the receiver in the Holy Ghost and speak to your spirit and answer you just like He is answering Elijah in this story.
The Lord told him to “Go out and stand before Him on the mountain,”
He didn’t tell Elijah to talk, or anything, He said Go Stand!!!
And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
The Bible says that when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.
He still didn’t try to help the Lord out, he just kept his position and stood!
And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Then, he pressed the receiver and repeated himself again, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”
Then Elijah once again put his CB down and allowed the Lord to speak once again. The Lord told him to , “Go back the same way you came, …

Use your CB in the Holy Ghost and communicate with God. Press the receiver and prayer and release it and pause (wait) for Him to answer His way and in His time. Trust Him to have your best interest at heart.
