Do You Know His Voice?

His Voice = His Victory
John 10: 1-10 KJV
1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
NLT
“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber!
2 But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.
5 They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”
6 Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn’t understand what he meant,
7 so he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
8 All who came before me[a] were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them.
9 Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved.[b] They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Do you know His voice? Tonight we were talking about the voice of Jesus. There are many of us that say we know God and we have a relationship with Him. We go to church, join Bible Study, and more… But my question tonight is, Do you know His voice?
It is important for us to know His voice and what His voice sounds like and when He is speaking to us. Why? Because when Jesus speaks to us, we need to know His voice well enough so that we can know when it is not His voice.
If you know the voice of God, when another voice comes that is not God, you will not become confused.
In our lesson tonight, we see that Jesus says that He is the good shepherd. Psalm 23 tells us that the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. Just understanding this tells us just how good God is. Because He is our shepherd, we do not have to want. We do not have to worry. We do not have to fear. God is and always has been in control of it all.
Jesus also gives a parable to the believers in the book of John, And He says that anyone who goes into the wall or into the sheep pen where his sheep are, and they do not go through the door, they are not the shepherd. They are fake, they are thieves, and they are robbers. He says, the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. .
So my question tonight once again is, do you know his voice? You have to know His voice in order for you to get everything that He has for you!
He says that my sheep know my voice and another voice, they will not follow. He said I know my sheep by name! He knows your name…isn’t that good news?!
For Jesus to know our name tells us that He knows me from the inside out and all in between! And if He knows me, I should get to know Him because I am formed in His very image and I need to know His voice so that I can walk in full alignment with His word and with His will. Amen!
