How Solid Is Your Rock
Pastor Carolyn J. Blue
Luke 6: 46-49 KJV
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.
48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
NLT
46 “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?
47 I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it.
48 It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built.
49 But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”
Deuteronomy 32:4
How Solid is your ROCK?
Rocks say a lot about how solid, stable, or firm you are in life.
Is your rock dependable?
Is your rock faithful?
Can you depend on your rock?
I’ve heard people say over the years that he is my rock or she was my rock!!!
The reason we sometimes refer to others as our Rock, because we can depend on that person to be there through thick and thin.
Who is your rock? How solid is your rock?
When’s the last time you had a solid rock?
The Hebrew word for rock indicates firmness, stability, and faithfulness. According to Easton Bible dictionary, the word rock means The Rock from witch. The stone is cut their signifies, the divine origin of Christ. The rock is a symbol of God and the old and New Testament.
A rock is a large mass of stony matter, usually compounded of two or more simple minerals, either bedded in the Earth, or Reston on its surface. Sometimes rocks compose of the principle part of huge mountains, sometimes huge rocks around the surface of the earth in it, and detached blocks or masses. But in the scripture, it means defense, it means of safety protection, or strength.
And I listen tonight the Lord is saying why do you keep calling me, Lord Lord, but you don’t do anything that I say. Why do you keep referring to me if you are merely just speak in words. He said I’ll say what you mean and mean what you say if you gonna say, Lord, don’t call me Lord gonna refer to me as Lord want me to be Lord he saying do what I’m saying to do. He says for those of us do that and mean it we are the man who built this house on the solid foundation on the solid rock.
