Prayer Hour NotesNotes By: Makeba ShawLast Week’s Homework:Proverbs 3: 5-6- Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.Identify practical ways to trust and acknowledge God in my daily decisionsToday’s topic:Prayer and backsliding
- Do you wish to grow in grace and be a devoted Christian?
- You need to be very sure if that is your desire
- If so, do you pray?
- Neglecting your prayer life is one of the great causes of backsliding
- Galatians 1:6- You can confess but the minute it got hot, you deny God
- Matthew 26: 74-75- You deny God when it gets hot
- Revelations 2:4- Men may cool down in their zeal for Christ
- Acts 15: 37-38- Naw B! We can’t take someone who isn’t about their prayer life
- 2 Timothy 4:10- We come week after week to hear the word during each class. Are we doing the Word or going back to the world?
- Proverbs 14:14
- Neglect of private prayer is the root cause of backsliding
- If you don’t practice praying in private, you will not be prepared to do it in public
- Bibles read without prayer, marriages created without prayer, friendships formed without prayer, decisions made without prayer result in spiritual sickness
- People become careless when they are without private prayer
- Men fall in private long before they fall in public
- The world only sees the outcomes and doesn’t know how it started…It’s because you don’t pray in private
- If we are Christians, we should not stay a backslider
What is the evidence of backsliding?
- Going back to old people, places & things
- Not following commandments
- Your thoughts are the beginning root cause of backsliding. What you focus on is what you feed and is what grows. If you mind is not aligning with kingdom purposes, your behavior will eventually follow
- Red car theory- you begin to see what you look for
- When you make a mistake, you must not stay in the moment (not walk on eggshells). We must repent and turn
- 1 John 4:16-18
- The more you spend time with Him, the better your relationship will become and it will lessen your desire to do anything else
- His desire is that none will be lost
- THere is no way that we can sit under this type of anointing and there not be a change in our life and in our walk
- 2 Peter 2:21-22
