The Next Step
Pastor Carolyn J. Blue
Proverbs 3: 5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Get In Position and Stay In Position
What does it mean to take the next step?
Taking the next step means that there has been a previous step. That you have made a step in your past and it’s time to take another step. Taking that step isn’t always easy but it is definitely possible.
Taking the next step can be challenging whether you are a baby in Christ or a seasoned adult.
During my meditation time, I saw my granddaughter’s small step stool, and I immediately realized that she uses it to step up from the level that she is on. And the only way that she can reach what she is trying to get to is to step up on the step stool and reach. She has to take the next step in order to get to where she is trying to go.
I could hear the Lord saying that’s just what we need to do now that it is a new day we need to take the next step! So you may ask on tonight what is the next step Pastor? Well I’m glad you asked because the next step is to Get In Position and Stay there.
He is saying that take the next step and live out what the scripture is saying. Let’s look at Proverbs chapter 3, verses five through six. And the Bible says: trust in the Lord, with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. That’s the first step in getting in position !!!
1. Trust Him
He says to trust Him with all of your heart and do not depend on your own understanding.
What does trusting Him look like?
2. Seek His Will
Seek His Will in all that you do and He will show you which path to take
How do we seek the will of God?
I’m reminded of a baby who has started standing up but not walking yet. The baby rocks back and forth but is afraid to take the next step. The parents encourage the baby to take the next step but the baby just stands and drops to the floor. After a lot of practice and falling down, the baby gains her strength and gains her courage to take the next step!!! And she takes one step at a time. The step may be a little wobbly and she may even stumble, but guess what? She takes it and is successful because she trusts her parents, she doesn’t lean on her own understanding but listens to what she’s being told to do. After a while, she isn’t afraid to take the next step and the next step nor the next step. Each step gets her closer to where she’s trying to go.
God is also saying we should keep the word of God in our hearts and meditate on it continuously, and do what what the word says to so.
In Joshua 1:8 the Bible says: this book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth, but thou shall meditate very in day, and night, that Val may observed to do according to All, that is written there, in, for thou made by way prosperous, and then thou shall have good success.
In other words, study the book of instruction, continually and meditate on a day and night, so that you’ll be sure to obey everything that’s written in it, and only then somebody to say, only then, only then will you prosper and succeed in all that you do that’s what happens when we get in position when we take that next step to get in position and stay in position.
Being in position opens doors, and brings blessings, and breakthroughs, and opens other avenues in our lives, when we take that next step and get in position.
Another step necessary to get in position is to:
3. Study His Word
Is there a right or wrong way to study His word?
4. Obey His Word
How do you know when you are obeying His word?
5. Make Your Way Successful
Taking the next step to get in position and to stay in position, is what God is calling us and we don’t want to miss. We are out of here. Continue to trust him as well, and all that you do with everything every day and that will stay in the world meditate on that word and obey. What he’s saying to do you will make your way successful! You will be so successful that you will always want to stay in position!
