1. You will be a son
-
- Romans 8:14-17
- Galatians 4:4-7
- John 1:12-13
Son- We are all children of God we were all made in Gods image (God forgives at all costs and loves us unconditionally, he gives us many chances, teaches us lessons, supports us.)
Sun- God brings life and he is our primary energy source. He is the food for the soul and allows things to grow.
2. You are an enemy of God
-
- Romans 5:10
- Habakkuk 1:13
- Habakkuk was complaining to God about how the Babylonians were treating them and being so violent and taking over. And he compares his “righteousness” to the Babylonians.
- No sin out ways another sin. It still separates us from God.
- Before God sacrificed himself we were enemies of God.
- Even though Christ knows we were sinners he still made that choice and was obedient and sacrificed his life for us and we can now have the opportunity to have a friendship and relationship with God.
- By not trusting Jesus and accepting him we make ourselves enemies of God and I think that people don’t truly know how bad that is because when you chose to live a life without God then who will you rely on and trust in that is more worthy than God to care for them and support them.
- God sees evil as it is no matter the difference in the action because sin is still sin and it separates us from god. So when he was questioned about the actions of the Babylonians what I took from his answer is to not let the good that God is doing be overlooked by the bad in the world as with time no matter how powerful or cruel an army have become without God the are prone to fall and facing the judgment of their actions.
3. You will die
-
- Genesis 2:17
- Ezekiel 18:4 and 20
- Romans 6:23
- Luke 13:3 and 5
- Sin separates us from God sin is disobedience to what God tells us to do. Before you can align yourself with anyone else you must align yourself with God.
- What we do and the decisions we make not only affects us but can affect others as well. (Water bottle analogy)
- Wages of sin will always be death. We have to work for that death but God gives life freely.
- When God is talking to us Not to change sin but to change one’s mind and attitude towards sin. Just because we aren’t physically doing something if we are thinking about that is not true change or repentance. (Pork analogy) Sin is a posture of your heart. Repentance requires your mind, heart, and soul.
4. What happens when you get the new life?
- Daily Renewal
- 2 Corinthians 4:16
- You choose to follow Christ and walk the walk.
- Yesterday’s faith and repentance wasn’t enough we have to make an effort to renew our spirits everyday.
- Our bodies are flesh he yearns for our spirit. Don’t worry about what your earthly body is doing but be concerned about your spirit.
- Make your renewal continuous.
5. What are the effects of the new life?
- You will have a strong desire for The WORD
- 1 Peter 2:2
- Joshua 1:8
- Acts 17:11
- As baby Christians we may crave milk but as we grow milk can’t sustain us we can starve and die (starting slowly reading your word). As we grow we will have to get into the meat of things. (Getting into small groups, incorporating God into every aspect of your life).
- We go from milk to bread to meat. – We need to crave the Word of God on a daily basis.
- Study the word. Learn the word. Use the word.
6. If you love Him you will always seek Him
-
- 2 Chronicles 7:14
- Matthew 6:33
- Isaiah 40:31
- Incorporate God into every aspect of your life.
- We have to repent and not just repent, but turn away from that sin. When we know better we do better.
- Put God first and seek him first and everything else will fall into place.
- Stay in alignment with God’s will and if you do all things will work out for your good.
- No one wants to be in a one sided relationship. You have to spend that time to get to know God for yourself to know that you can seek him for anything. Have a relationship where you can be confident in seeking him because you love him! I want to be radical for Jesus.
7. Spirit and mind
-
- Ephesians 4:20-24
- Romans 12:2
- Caterpillar analogy because it chooses to shed that old lifestyle and ways he can now fly he doesn’t have to crawl.
- When you first start out you just have to give God your yes. Things move fast but as you grow you may feel like your growth becomes stagnant. When we feel this way we have to start thinking about how we’re spending our down time devoting more time to God. The way we spend our downtime determines how our future will look.
8. Knowledge
-
- Col. 3:10- “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.” NLT
- In this chapter it talked about living the new life and what that should look like.
- I’m going to choose this new life it was given to us years ago and we’re stepping into it and acting on it.
- In choosing it I can’t keep doing the same old things I use to do but claim to be renewed in Jesus I have to put those things down and make a commitment to learning about God and what he would do and as we gain that knowledge we start to get discernment and convictions I know what is and is not pleasing to God. And you are going to be perfect and a test will come so we have to prepare for that.
- Am I chosen or called
- Do we truly love him the way we think we do if we continue to do so many things that’s unpleasant in his eyes?
- Concentrate on what’s right so we can stay in line with his will.
9. Your New Life will produce the fruit of the Spirit
-
- Galatians 5:22-23
- You have to surrender and surrender all to him.
- The fruit of the spirit is something that comes from the heart that you have to develop on your own.
- If we want to grow in the spirit you have to get in his word and learn more about him. It’s just like growing real fruit you have to water and take care of the plant.
- Read the word and study the word for ourselves. Study and show yourselves approved.
- The bottom line is the fruit of the spirit is the way to become more like Jesus.
Prayer
Father God, we Believe what Jesus has done for you and also the love God has for you before He sent His only Son to die for your sins. I am therefore expected to share this life message. Just as The LORD granted me the privileged to be reached with His WORD which led to my salvation, so am I also encouraged to tell somebody The Good News. To do this, I must be Prayerful, reading His WORD (The Bible) and fellowshipping with the Brethren with all my heart always. This then will lead to a daily renewal by His Power. God bless us. In Jesus Name Amen!
